The Vn's are a Borg Warner type 78 , I wonder if there are any other cars using this diff? I will have a look under my old (off the road) fairlane , that had a LSD , maybe its the same type of differential.
It would be good if you could find a list of compatible diff centres.

    pintaras have 4.11 gears
skylines have 3.89 and 3.73 gears
fords do have a bw78 diff that run 2.7s but who wants that in your commodore

thats all you can use but....

you can only use these GEARS in your commodore but you CANNOT use the CENTRES (so kiss by the ford lsd idea) from these diffs as they are only a 2 pinion 25 spline centre where as the commodore have 4 pinion and 28 spline centres

when changing gears you cannot simply swap and go you must set the lash and pinion deoth using shims and a lot of putting it together and pulling it apart to get it perfect

you must use a dial guage and get the toerances between 0.008 and 0.012 of an inch.

if you want to attempt this job then read this guide for a 10 bolt diff we have a 9 bolt but the 10 bolt is very similar

if you dont have the tools needed then it will cost you just as much for them as to pay a diff joint to do it..

its a time consuming job but it can be done anyway read this

All VL's come standard with 3:4:5 gears. VN's have 3:0:8. The higher the ratio the better. Best bet is to go to a wreckers and offer em a hundred bux for a VL Diff. Take the internals out yourself and put them in your diff. My mate had this setup in his VN would easily beat me off tha line and i have the standard 3:0:8 gears. Even better is a VN diff with 3:4:5 gears with minispool. you will kane ppl off tha line
