Hey Guys
My Car has about 288 xxx on the clock and it never really had and major problems. The only thing i changed on it was the distrbuter thingy ( it was the choclit box one) anyways i changed that and i'm always lookin after the engine and checkin the oils so how much time do i have until it kills itself.
thanks for your opinion

id say till something breaks, who knows
mate, keep looking after it, and it should last you 500,000k's with only standard replacement parts, ie, water pump, fuel pump, other bits.
what breaks after 500 000?
haha i know its irrelevant but my old hg is coming up on the 600 000 mark and shes running fine, havent had a problem in alogn time, which means sumthing is about 2 haha. but yeh those old red 186s never die.
I bet it's seen at least 2 red motors before one that's in it now, they don't last very long at all compared to a Buick 6, 250,000 and they are smoking
original engine number :P but yeh it may have been rebuilt somewhere along the line.
my vp now on 330,000km only normal replacement stuff still returns around 10l/100km. touch wood she'll just keep on going.
Hey
so if i was to just keep up the basic repairs like oil changes, cleaning air filter etc, it should last me abit long then i thought it would. but i was told they usally die around 500 xxx or so.
thanks for anything

it'll last just take care of it n don't thrash it.
500,000+ running fine gearbox getting replaced this week small rear main leak my mechanic said if the engine has lasted this long its one of the lucky ones that will keep lasting on
It'll only die once you stop caring for it. Change the oil every 5,000km (or 3 months), and it'll last you a fair while.Originally Posted by IhateRICE!
