hmm, its been a while since ive done it.
i think from memory you take the front horn piece off (it just pulls off i think)
unhook the wiring for the horn.
get your tyre socket wrench from the boot and undo the bolt on the steering column, but dont take it off completely ....its wise to leave it on just a bit so you dont cop the steering wheel in the face when your pullin it off.
then go nuts tryna pull the damn bus steering wheel off...can be really hard sometimes...there are special steering wheel removers, but i wouldnt go buy one just for a once off job.
i think about all, as i said, its been a while...so if anyone wants to correct or elaborate what i said feel free.

I hope to soon get a momo jet steering wheel, so if you find a good guide be sure to let me know!

    hey all

Now that beef cream said "collapsable collum" i'm not sure if i want to take it off lol. My neighbour said to leave the nut off and then just hit it with a rubber hammer while someones else pulls on the steering wheel. how much would this steering wheel puller cost me. (i'm low on funds and when i mean low i mean none) lol

    Thanks all

i did it yesterday and seriously just hit it with a hammer, i did it myself in about 2 minutes, yank on it hard as you can, give it a hammering, keep pull hammer agen and it'll come off no worries. Don't worry about the steering coloumn

leave the nut so it is flush with the top of the thread so there is no damage.. put both knees under the wheel with some pretty and your left hand (if you are right handed) on the top of the steering wheel with pressure on it. and hit the but with a steel hammer. it will pop straight off
as easy at that... don't worry about any pullers. waste of money

I collapsed my steering collumn when I hit mine with a hammer trying to loosen the bugger!! but it was pretty easy to pull it back up by going under the car undoing a few bolts and pulling it back up!. You will find out especially if the boss kit dont fit on proper afterwards. It was the biggest mission to take the steering wheel off ... ended up soldering two huge piss off bolts to the steering wheel and used a huge metal puller to take it off!! Now with the smaller steering wheel it just seems so much easier to steer! Good luck!

This is all good and well until you collapse your steering column. If you want to take the chance of having to pay a lot more then go ahead and smack it with a hammer. The best thing to do if you don't have a gear puller is to find a rubber mallet and tap the back side of the steering wheel. Remember that the wheel is connected to a spline so alternate the sides you tap go around the wheel left to right, top to bottom etc

If this don't work go for a drive (WITH BOLT ON STEERING WHEEL OR YOU WILL CRASH) approx 10 min drive wheel will loosen from turning and eventually pop.

Mmm, sounds fimiliar. I collapsed my column too. the boss wouldn't fit that kinda gave it away. I brought a new column but once I got the old one out I realised I could just repair it and put it back in. and got a refund on the new one. I ended up buying a steering wheel puller from repco cos the autobarn one snapped. $17.00 haven't used it since but probably will when I get a new car or something.

lol im not gonna argue over it, that's how i did it and the steering column didn't collapse so yeh. Just take care it's as simple as that and its common knowledge, always take care and have patience with mechanical shit.

has anybody attempted to put on a vt/vx or even vy steering wheel on an vn i like the feel of the new steering wheels and i think it would be something different.. i would assum that it would fit on without a boss kit.. then onli thing is i dont on if they have the same grey coloured wheels on the newer holdens..mums is vx wheel is black. and i spose airbag would cause a problem and would need to be removed
Don't blame me, It's that damn percadan..
If you ask me, that stuff rots your brain...
And now a word from our new sponsor.. Percadan? oh crap!
