hey all,
i finally got around to installing my new 70mm throttle body and i want to reset the ECU and ICS valve....
i assume its an simple as disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU, but whats this about revving the car at 3000rpm to reset the ICS valve?
any info?
thanks

yeah, revving it to 3000. i have been told something like that. i have also been told it is bullsh*t too. so i don't really know... i wouldn't be too worried about that bit of it
gregory's recomends that once you disconnect the battery, start it up, rev it to 3000rpm and hold it for tens seconds to reset the tps i think, i dun tink it's bullshit, just make sure you warm up car first
Yep, CSL is right. It's not bullshit. If you try driving without resetting the IACV idle is way worse than normal, if it will idle at all, most of the time it will just stall.
The way I normally do it, is I just do whatever work I need to do, start the car. Let it sit and idle for about 5 minutes (okay, so it's not great but it's better than cold), turn the engine off, disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery 30 seconds later, fire it up and hold 3000rpm for 10 seconds. That way you're not revving crap out of a cold engine.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
I just start the car and drive : ) the IAC finds it's own way back home after a few seconds, the 3000 rpm story is a hoax as far as I can see
i have the battery out of my car all the time. never ever had any trouble with not idling properly
Foamy, look at the constant at
$066C: 'RPM ' IAC MOTOR RESET RPM THRESHOLD
this is the iacv reset rpm, its true it does do it...
Rob
So it is Bob, but is that instant rather than 10 seconds? because I've found before that sometimes when you change to another calibration the engine will die on the first little rev, after that it's fine
its 10 seconds, set by another constant i think from memory, ill look it up for you
