With enough money and the right adaptor plates EVERYTHING can fit in. And I stand by that. As for what boxes just slot straight in without any changes whatsoever...I can't imagine that there would be too many. I mean, hell, even to change from auto to manual you need a different flywheel.

bumpski, had to edit original post

mouce is right, if you have enough money you could make a kangaroo powered vn. but seriously anything will fit. a vs-vy ecotec 6 bolts straight in, an efi 304 or even carby 308 or 253 will fit, you can get mounting kits for overseas models or ls1's or old carby big blocks or rotaries from castlemaine rodshop http://www.rodshop.com.au
a decent gearbox is a tremec tko t5. it bolts straight up to where a borg warner t5 came from. it has decent ratios and are un-believably tough.
a ZF 6 speed is the strongest box you can find for a commodore but id have no idea where to find em. maybe the rodshop but apparently they are rare as.
I've got an auto, and thanks for the info
like what would be the starting price for an engine conversion?
does anyone know of a place in sydney? thanks again

ah, the old bumb trick, the oldest trick in the book
well, what i can say is this
if you got money, anything can fit, but keep this in mind
to keep the car road worthy you can only fit a motor that the car came out with, i.e. the vns1 can only have a vns1 motor put into it, so you cant be bolting a 350 into it, or a 454, (ofcourse you can do this, but not without mod plating and a engeners cert)
find the 6 speeds everywhere down here, more easier to find than the 5 speed, you just toddle of to your local salvage car auction each fortnight, guarantee you, you will find oneOriginally Posted by Wonderboy
ok... cheers for that info
say i'm getting my VN SI motor rebuilt, what are the starting prices for that?
thanks in advance
