hey guys, im in the middle of doing my manual conversion and running out of time but ive become stuck.
it seems even tho i have a manual and auto starter motor neather of them will work, the manual one hits the manual flywheel but cant lock in, and the auto one wont fit at all cause of the fly wheel.
why is it doing this, can u please help???
the starter motor on the left is manual, one on right is auto, so any help??
what do you mean the manual one can't lock in?
when not engaged the starter motor should just sit there with the gear retracted from the flywheel...
when engaged, the gear pops out and engages into the flywheel?
I'd say go with the manual one as it's made for the manual flywheel?
is the inspection plate on? does it space it out a little?
The manual starter should fit in and work with no hassles! Just bolt it up and jobs done.

i had to put a spacer in with mine.. wouldn't work without making a horrible sound. it took me about an hour putting washers in and taking them out. i think i put 2 washers one side and nothing the other in the end.. I think??? now 2 years later it hasn't missed a beat..
i don't know why it happens. it just seems to happen
someone put a thread up about it happening to them the other week..
it comes out of the factory with the spacerOriginally Posted by defa
