    Lightbulb Security Issues

    hey guys

i was wondering if anyone out there can give me some advice. i recently moved from a house located inside a gated complex to a unit located on a main road. there is no other place for me to park the car other than the road

today the next door nieghbour came over and told how his VP was stoled in broad daylight, no broken windows, only a dissasembled steering column.

i was wondering if there are any diy things to make a car harder to steal (as i don't know how it is done!) Eg, switch in the fuel pump circut, switch in ignition circut etc. i am a starving (not really) uni student so i can't afford a professional alarm system.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i almost forgot, my ride is 1990 s1 vn wagon
    (CAI, 2.5in cat back lowered)

    thanks
    wayne

the best thing is to put in a phone controlled car alarm in. it cals u and tells u where its broken into and u can turn the car off via your fone so they cant get away with it. ive had it on my ss for 18mths now and it works, i caught a guy red handed at my car trying to flog it. lets jus say he left it alone very quickly. and he couldnt work out how i new he was at my car trying to flog it?

I don't know about the VN's but my VP has the factory Immobiliser and i think it's great, Kills the pump won't start, And this car was broken into one day, They broke the back left window tore off the steering wheel and had wires everywhere, They must have gave up cause it was still there after the ex owners wife came out, But they stuffed the steering column up good, The car went home on a truck. But the security worked they couldn't start it and left.
Cost the previous owner some $$$ to fix it but.

A switch that cuts power to the fuel pump is a crude but effective method of making it really fkn hard to steal a car, especially an injected car.

Otherwise, tap a little deeper into the electrical system and cut out the ignition circuit and/or the injectors. Cut power to those and you've made it a lot harder to steal.

the car is an executive, so it doesn't have the cruise control buttons, could you get the buttons from the wreckers and use those as the switches?

A friggin tricky idea actually, hiding in plain sight! I don't think it would be an issue to rig that, although running the wiring up to the console could be fiddly.

yep ive heard of that method actually. it would be a good idea.there are many wires you could splice it into. try the fuel pump, or else the grey wire in the centre console that tells the computer that the car is in P or N

just wrap the wires into some other random bundle to hide it eh.
i havent had a look yet, but where do the lines for the fuel pump go? under the car or under the carpet inside

i think they run along the right side of the cars interior, underneath that plastic panel. im not sure, but i think the fuel pump wire is the thick purple one.
