i was playing around trying to get the tacho in my vh (EFI v8) working. at one stage i had the signal cable cut for wiring while i had it dummy fitted and all was fine. disconnected all, rejoined the wire and now it wont start. it just winds over. doesn't kick at all. traced wires and all is still connected as far as i can see. anyone got any ideas.?![]()
sounds like ur fuel pump, if uve been cutting lines make sure u didnt cut ur fuel pump ones, thats ur problem, also check all ur fuses, could of shorted one out at some point in time, mainly check all ur fuel pump stuff
check spark, fuel, compression and timing. if it has all these it will start, even if it runs shit. what fuel pump are you running in the vh? undo the high pressure line and get someone to turn the ignition on and it should prime and squirt fuel everywhere. if it has fuel check for spark, just pull a lead off and hold it close to the extractors or the closest earth, if it has a beefy yellowy spark its fine. its easy to cancel things out like, it cant be the battery or the starter motor if its turning over so it would most likely be fuel or spark.
yeah it's spark, the fuel pump primes up-i can hear it- but i dont think its the coil. i swapped it for another one and it still doesn't go. so i think it must be up stream from there. i put a test light on the negative terminal of the coil and it glows contantly when it should be flashing. i'm just about ready for a tow truck.
remove the taco maybe faulty
i got fed up today and rang a tow truck to take it to the auto elec, he said it's the ignition module and its stuffed. let that be a reminder to disconnect the battery when working on your electrics.
