holden v6 3.8 ltr verses vt 5.7 ltr
on a (race track)
witch would be better to race in, vp v6 or a vt v8?
long straight road v8 would hammer
tight quick cornering v6 would hammer
done a study on this and worked out that the vp v6 would win
only because the v8 would be to slow throw corners
just thought id let people know
Real cars don't power the front wheels, they lift them
depends on the tracks really..either way commies are not renowned for their handling v6 or otherwise so id go something smaller and more tunable if your serious about racing...escorts are good (gasp!) but since your probably a holden man my mate had a smokin gemini and cheap to prep for racing
The V8 would have IRS LSD and should come with a better stiffer suspension. So i would think the V8 would beat the VP.

the experience of the driver.
you need to know when to power on before the opposing car does, you get that gain before the V8 then it's V6 to the finish line first....
the driver was me in both cars,Originally Posted by samuels
and yes i have been trained ,for on the track drivering, pretty hopless when it come`s to off the track thow,

that`s true.
been training a mate of mine how to drive at high speed`s and when to brake etc.
its a work in progress lol

I've seen a V6 saloon car VN race a gen III SS production car on SBS they both pulled the same lap times but the gen iii was allways infront crossing the line down the straight and the VN was in front for the rest of the track after the first 3 corners untill 1/3 of the way down the main straight : ) they passed each other every lap.
In theory a VN 5 liter or maybe a VP 5 liter with IRS would beat them both around the same track it might be far enough in front of the gen III to hold it off down the main straight

Some lap records from Phillip Island, it's a fast track so there will be less advantage for the lighter cars here but anyway, the times.

ahhh, the old days... lowndsey racing a commodore, haha when you think about it, lowndsey and skaife use to be untouchable in the commodores, now since lowndse has switched to ford, he's cars have performed s***house... not saying he's a bad driver or anything, its just the blue oval badge on the grill
Lowndsey is a damn good driver, the only problem is the crappy equipment that he's got so far. Throw him in one of the Pirtek falcons and I don't think anyone could touch him.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
yeh, and he has also had a lot of badluck, say bathurst for example, i think it was the first year he switched to ford, he was leading the race right to the end and it started raining and he went straight into the wall, skaifey ended up winning. and just last year, he had like a 8 second lead over everyone at the start and was flying, wheel flew through the windscreen, and once again, skaifey won the race...
