i just drove home from work last night and parked the car for 10 minutes
got back in to take the kids to school and nothing
i have power but no signs of trying to kick over
checked the fuses and all are fine but there is a 60amp fuse under the bonnet labelled mains which i cant remove.either side of it are 2 30amp fuses which i easily removed but the 60 wont budge
i dont know what else to try
any ideas
thx
is it an auto, is it still in gear?
60amp is screwed in from bottom.
Move the stick down to neutral and back to park.
If that doesnt work try to start it in neutral.
The car wont do anything if it is in gear. Sometimes the electronic part of the gear selector plays up and that helps fix it.
Hope it helps.

the cars an auto and i have tried starting in all gears and moving selector around
Im going to guess that it could be the crank angle sensor! check out this thread

i have half sorted the problem
turns out it may be the ignition switch or the inhibitor switch
i have now found out how to eliminate the starter motor as the problem if anyone is interested to know
under the bonnet there is a relay that reads start.pull it out.
if you grab a piece of wire and bridge out number 30 to number 87 while the ignition is on(the numbers are on the base of the relay) you will get some sparks if it is the starter motor, the car will start if it is another problem e.g inhibitor or ignition.
hope that helps some others
cheers
I'll go with inhibitor switch, had the same type of problem.
sounds a little different, but this is worth a try
after mine cut out it wouldnt start again. i had all power but when i tried to turn the key to its final position all lights disappeared and the engine didnt even attempt to crank over.
cuts out?
i have had it happen in a manual, all it was,was the simplest of things....batteryOriginally Posted by invasion
