car felt like it just died...wtf?

hey all,

just had a strange problem.. drivin kinda hard round the local area, on the way home just drivin normally came round the corner to a tiny kinda hill and my car like lost all acceleration and felt like it died then came back to normal..

wat could this be? i really need to give my baby a service cause i dont know when the last one was.
could this just be a simple fuel filter or somethin serious

were you using alot of electicals...for example,stereo,headlights (especially high beams), windscreen wipers, air-con, demisters..etc.?

sounds like a idle issue to me mate, either too high or too low, open happens when it turns... either that or power steering, if it was electrical more than the engine would be affected, anyway he hasnt NEARLY enough devices in his car to pull through the required ammount of ampage to counter the alternator charge and stall it...

even i dont and i have neon lighting, 2x amps, a sub and 6 speakers...

also, could be a knock sensor issue but i doubt it

ok...i was just wondering.
probably isnt the same problem i had with my vs a while back, after i first got it.
what happened to me was i was drivin home late in the rain with my demisters on in the front, stereo cranked up, wipers on full and my car just died for like a second or two whenever i put the high beams on.
weird sh*t hey, everything...lights, stereo,acceleration, steering ,air con....it all just turned off.
ended up bein a dodgy battery, the connections were pretty cruddy and the two alternator and battery checks i did both said bad battery.
replaced it with a good century one and its never done it again.

You might not want to hear this cause the same thing happen to me last year. I was coming home from my brother house when i went to this big roundabout, As i accelerated i had nothing no reeving no power so i pulled to the side of the road and took off and all was good. But myn from then picked up a shudder into 3rd gear sometimes 2nd also.

my crank angle sensor is screwed and i have had the exact same problem.

when i got home i heard a noise from the engine bay that sounded unusual.. might visit the merchanics 2night..

i would say that you need a new auto was or a top up of oil sounds like its just slipping

My Auto only lasted 2 months after it happen to me, But i was on a long drive up the country when it went.

rebuild it that way you know how many kms you done onit rather than reco and get a oil cooler on it heaps bettr ihave rebuilt mine stage2 and oil cooler much better wont go through many then also get it strengthened

also try checkn the fuel and air supply. the tanks get alot of crud build up over time and this blocks it all up. when changing fuel filter tip the contents of the old one into a white container and examine it. youll be suprised at the crap those things will hold. if its too bad, concider a second high flow fuel filter(not best for performance but will keep the s**t outa your injectors!) may also be the fuel pump? hope you get it by the ballz soon

I have had this problem with every holden i have ever had (vn, vp wagon, vk, hj, mates vr calais, mates sv88). It seems to happen mostly around right hand corners when pushing hard and when the fuel tank is getting lowish. Have put it down to the fuel pickup coming out of the fuel or something similar and starving of fuel for a short time.

i think i've found the problem wid great help of paradox and hakhawk,
the problem only happens on a hill were you go from flat road to a incline, i didnt hav my music on today so i could hear wat was goin on. the same corner and then i go it to do it again on a bit bigger hill. It felt like the engine was chokin, like it wasnt gettin fuel and then it gets some and comes back alive.
also latley its been takin more cranks to get my baby to roar, so i've come to conclusion it could be the fuel filter or somethin along these lines.

what you guys reckon?

sounds like fuel pump to me, make sure when u get it serviced they take a good look at it and MAKE sure they drive it once the cars warmed up as thats when the problems usually occur...

my brother had his fuel pump die on his 89 vn, they only usually last 200,000k's

how much fuel do you keep in the tank??????
if your going up a hill with low fuel this could explain it...
