    Default Cat Converter

Hey guys/gals i have a rattle while driving and weird smell coming from underside of car. Noticed no nuts on cat converter only bolts. Would it be a matter of getting new nuts and tightening with shifter or do i have to take it to the exhaust shop. The cat is still in working order.

cat converters have an eggish smell and tinny sound when they are on the way out, pull the cat off and do a visual check, then go get some ultra blue gasket glue and some new gaskets for the converter, bolt it back on!
last thing you want is for the cat to melt and have hard rockish blobs rattling in your exhaust. and get some new bolts!

There is no need for nuts on the cats on VN commos. The cats have threaded holes so the bolts just screw into the flange on the cat.

If you're hearing a rattle, and it's started to smell strange might as well get a new cat. I picked up a top notch second hand one for only $65. A couple of gaskets later and it was all better.
