recently while driving in my statesman ive noticed a fuel smell. after closer inspection under the bonnet i noticed the passenger side fuel rail (return hose?) where it joins to the rubber hose is leaking. the clamp is as tight as it goews and the hose is not broken and in new condition. as this is not a small leak i am worried about a fire hazzard. the car still runs fine and there is no driving problems.
Is this due to a blocked injector? a blocked return line? fuel pump pumping to much fuel? someone please help. Please note this mainly happens when the car is cold.
please help.
take the hose off and check the inside of the hose for cracks because it can leak from them through the material layer in the hose and straight out the end (same principal as flouro textas)
And, When doing up the hose clamps, remember 2 tighten it just enough 2 squash the hose so the metal is just flush with the rubber, any tighter 'n the rubber rips apart under excessive pressure. I'd prolly put 2 clamps on it aswell 2 b on the safe side, after you've checked 'n replaced/trimmed the hose back a touch.hth![]()
