Hello All
my vp series 2 executive has developed the following electrical faults in order of appearance.
1. car occasionally wouldnt idle when starting, had to keep pumping throttle to keep it going, would be ok after a minute.
2. overheating after starting, temp gauge would go up to max. after a few minutes would drop to normal.
3. then a few days later when starting car it would fire up for a brief moment then cut out, unable to start and run most of the time.
4.car started successfully after not starting for several days, whent to friends place, whent to start car after couple hours and whoa is me the immobiliser remote switch wouldnt unlock car or turn off immobiliser. didnt have key for the override switch so dismantled it and crossed the pink wires, orange light on dash doesnt beep at me to press remote switch anymore. car wont start though, radiator fan comes on, cant hear fuel pump working, although was able to hear it a few days ago. god how i wish i had kept my old vk at least i could fix that without needing an electronics degree.
Anyone had similar faults. I will eventually sort these hassles out, I hope
Overheating straight on startup like that? Either your temp gauge is playing funny buggers (and it does happen), or you've got a funky thermostat. Maybe it's holding closed for WAY too long, then just opening up in a single shot. Try a new thermostat.
As for everything else, start with the basics, check your battery connections, earth connections (from EVERYTHING), and you alternator as well.
If idle is really crappy, take your throttle body off and clean it, make sure you clean your IACV as well while you've got it all out. That should help with idle when cold.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
