They do fit, and there is no firewall or chassis rail mods required, unlike what most people will tell you. You will either have to use a vn-vp 5 litre auto trans (same bolt pattern as gen3) or use the gen 3 auto trans, the choice is yours. There is a kit available including modified wiring loom. Give castle auto electrics in Castlemaine a call on (03) 5472 1442. They will have everything you need.

I have looked into this and was told there has problems with the GEN3 auto bell housing clearing the firewall and tunnell, alot of mods have to be made the stater has to be repositioned, very tight fit for the headers. $10 000 should be a good budget to get things done right aswell as havingt o do a lot of the work yourself

Yeh I was looking at around 12 to fit one into my Vp calais after engineering and everything. So decided it wasn't worth it and I would just start saving towards a vt or vx. Then uni got in the way and it all got put on hold.

As soon as i read that i sighed knowingly...Sounds familiar. I also have aspirations of a Gen 3 conversion in my 89' wagon but decided it might be sweet to have a Supa charged sleeper...

Theres a VN ls1 around my area somewhere, runs 11 seconds or less on the 1/4 and he said it's just about the most easy engine conversion you can do, wont cost too much to get it on the road legal either

easy as.. thats all i can say. i no someone thats putting a twin turbo one into a patrol. The kits garentees 500hp on a stop engine. Do some engine work and bobs you uncle you cracking into the big leagues. Its costing him 6k to do the full conversion including engine box and turbos. His an auto elecy but and he and a few of his mates are building it.
