VN ,2 raidator filler bottles?

Hi all, in my VN it has filler bottles for the radiator on both left and right side of the car. I havent had the car for long and just wanted to know why it has and what one do i fill when adding new coolant??? I read something about one being a surge tank and the other being a recovery tank but wat does this mean?? Cheeers

My friends VN coolant tank (recovery tank) is on the passenger side and it has a minimum and maximum level for the coolant.

On the drivers side there is another tank with a black cap with a hose coming off it, going to the radiator.

i had the same thing when i was going for my road wothie the guy said to me that the over flow wasn't workin (the tank on the passenger side) so what he did (cause i was pritty much running the car with no water in it) is he just took the cap off that was on there and just put a new cap on but it didn't run to the one on the passenger side

Yeah see the thing is, the drivers side one has just water in it, the one on the passengers side has coolant in it, the radiator has coolant in it so does that mean the drivers side one isnt hooked up????
