I've had 2 problems with shorting, first my indicators kept shorting, so i got the auto leccy to look at it, they fixed the short it was in the engine bay, about 4 months later they shorted again, went and got it fixed this time it was behind the fusebox, that was last week
Yesterday i drove off and it was about 4 in the morning, and bashed my lights on low beam and pop blew a fuse, this time it was the one for the radio and dash lights, i replaced teh fuse but whenever i turn my lights on it just blows so there must be a short there somewhere..
is there a way to fix it yourself? or do i have to go to the auto leccy and fork out another $60..
Sound like the problem is in the indicator stalk as they are a real problem and the symptoms you indicate point to that area. These stalks are a real weak point as the wire running through them is weak and tiny leading to breakages as you work the stalks back and forth. Ask anyone of the VR - VS owners with cruise control how many stalks they have had to change!!! Would be looking there first.
vn light switch is on the dash, not in the indicator stalk, its my lights this time that are causing a short, not my indicators![]()
I think the reference was to the high/low beam switch which is in the indicator stalk.Originally Posted by Cody

yeah the little switch on the dash buttons for lights, inside is like a reciever thats moulden in, it is prone to come loose, hence why alot of peoples lihtas dont work without a wack to the dash, just unscrew the 4 screws, and uplug 5 loom plugs and take a look, you freind here is loctite
