Default Replacing speedo unit in VNs1

I'm about to replace the speedo unit with a reconditioned one, as my trip meter and odometer have stopped working.

I've never taken the cluster out before, or taken the steering wheel off. I have a Gregory's manual to walk me through it, but is there anything I should be particularly aware of??
    Any tips/tricks appreciated.

    Cheers
    Sam

It's pretty easy and straightforward, just as long as your careful you shouldn't have any trouble.

I have an aftermarket steering wheel and I don't need to take it off but I don't know about doing it with the original wheel

i'm assuming u mean taking out the whole cluster if so that is a simple 2 min job. may i aks how much are u paying for this reconditoined one because for about $120 u can get a vs cluster and put it in (no it dosent go straight in and work but it dosn't involve anything special to make it work eg all u need is a screw driver and the old cluster) oh 120 is a max price i would say u might get one cheaper plus u get a tacho yes i have done it and its is still working 2 months layter and i drive about 2 hours a day

cheers for that but i already got a tacho, and i don't know how much it cost - my folks brought it over from perth as a present when they came to visit.

    thanks for the idea though.

and i just assumed i had to take the wheel off cuz it said so in the gregory's...

    OK: it's been a couple of months and I finally did this job - wrote a 'how-to' for anybody who's unclear . . .

Changing a speedo in a VN tacho cluster

    Cheers
