hey greeny, i tested out the stock eprom in my memcal socket install job, and when i turn it to igntion the engine fan comes on, it starts and shit, but do yiou know what ive done wrong, cheers
(stock eprom)
sounds like the wromg memcal to me. could be a vs memcal or something.
nah dude its an atfy 4410 which is a late series 1 chip i think i desolodered it wrong or somthing
check that all eprom pins go from eprom thru memcal to the socket, you mightve broken a pin somewhere on the memcal. i know i did the first time along with a couple other people a while back.
it looks as iff all pins are touching the right metal slots, i just dont know, i resoldered the knock baord back on , on an angle, and that looks all tip top, but yeah the memcal gos in and out easily enough, but all pins seem to b in correct hole
maybe theyre in correct hole, but not making contact properly, easiest way is to get a socket and solder that into the memcal, then put eprom in that, guaranteed better contact
I just went through all 28 pins with a multimeter and found 3 that had no contact - using a socket. When i fixed that she started up ok - My soldering sucks balls, so i pretty much knew that it was the problem when I started the first time... (engine light on) cough cough spluter stall.....
socket???? i'm confused, the eprom just plugs into the memcal yeah??? and thats it, knock board, eprom and main plastic/metal unit???
oh and the 2 chips under the knock board
oh shit, i just checked greeny's original post, and i didnt realize about the actual square socket connecter, where do you get those from?? i made mine so the eprom just plugs into the board, oblivius to this socket dealy,
sorry blokes
You should be able to get a 28 pin socket from any kind of electronics shoptry and get a "machined pin" one they have the round holes on top
I got mine from jaycar - they're cheap as, and probably woth the convenience...
thanks dudes, i'll shoot up to jaycar now
