Have removed auto for a re-build, how do I remove the torque converter???the bolts seem to be on the engine side of the fly wheel. Can I replace the crank end seal with the engine in the car???Thanks Russell.
yes... the bolts are on the engine side... you dont have a flywheel... its just a thin steel plate with the ring gear on it... torque converter weight acts as a flywheel.... make a mark on the converter and the ring gear plate so as to put it back in the same position... you will need to turn the engine around to get at each bolt..... says in Gregory's to REPLACE the oil seal engine has to be removed cos you have to remove the crankshaft from the engine.... but to RE-PACK the oil seal you only need to remove the sump...
