Default VN V6 Quicker than 5 liter VN/P V8 to 60km/h fact or fiction

This is not a very scientific, but from watching videos of runs in my car I have concluded that my VP gets through first gear in 3.6 seconds and my VN V6 gets through first gear in 4.0 seconds and after that the V8 is pulling away quicker and quicker as the speed and wind resistance goes up so looks like that myth is not true . It might be true on fully standard cars but with cars that are running a good tune and a CAI the V8 is quicker everywhere right from the first meter I'd say

Stock Vs Stock it would be true, but then again, with those memcals you run, it's hardly stock is it?

No stinkin' way. Why do V6 owners seem to have such a firm grip on their own private parts?

because with the acceleration the v6 jhas, if you dont hold onto your package, it ends up[ in the back seat

yeah remember the v8's have a bigger engine block, therefore more weight....they'res a few kg diffrence between them......

now foams tuned his so they probbly take off like my pants when my girlfriends over sooo yeah, v8 has more torque and just as a fact my balls arnt hte only thing i have to hang on to... on a good takeoff my phone usually flys out of the section below the headunit and lands on the backseat / back floor... so the comment has some truth to it :P

Heh, the stock V8 does that too, inherent design flaw i think! Dunno if the V6 is just as fast or faster to 60 or whatever, all I know is that this thing rules! And the soundtrack just seals the deal.

It's quite clear in these videos that when they are both running a bit of a tune the V8 is quicker, everywhere. The standard tune on the V8 makes it VERY sluggish below 3000 rpm then the power comes on almost like a light switch, it's not any fault of the motor, Holden just wanted it like that

Note: The speedo on the VP was out about 7km/h (reading slower than actual) at 60 just incase you were looking at the second launch

If you're running the same diffs & tyres on both cars...then I'd say the V8 will be harder to get off the line cleanly due to the increased amount of torque at the wheels.

Mr Foam... How much is a lower diff ratio worth on the quarter ?

Say you can pull a 15 with 3.08:1

How much do you think 3.26:1 or 3.55:1 or 4.11 would improve the time ?

    TIA

Don't have time to work it out but a good 5 liter that was running 13.9 with a 3.08 diff will run 13.6 with a 3.5 and 13.5 with a 3.9 oh yeah and 13.8 with a 3.2

Btw.... I reckon you should dump the VP motor into the SLE and sell everything else off and spend it on the diff and motor
