    Default VN V6 Exhuast

    Hey guys,
I've heard that removing the resonator off an exhasut system gives you a little bit extra power, is this true?? what does it sound like once you take it off
    Is it worth it?????

I have a 4inch cannon and no mufflers, doesnt do much for performance but it is loud as all hell (kinda sounds like a V8 on cocaine) has a realy nice droning kinda sound when your cruisin'

    Good luck

how the hell can you compare a v6 with a ricer cannon (for f*ck sake) to a deep, crackling rumble of a v8???!!!
the cloeset thing a commodore with a cannon on it sounds like, is a moped at full throttle.... ddrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooone

I agree. Theres nothing worse than a rice cannon on a commodore. Leave that to the rice brigade on their fully sick Hyundai's.
kilowatts are like drugs, the more you get, the more you want.

LOL dont let hak hawk read this thread

and i disagree if the rice cannon is a decant one... then it wont drone...

my cousin has a proper one (on his skyline) its 5.5" large cannon, give a low note... no droning... nothing worse than rice drone.. then that crappy rattling sound u get when they hit around 5000rpm in 2nd gear

LOL talking about fully sh!t hyundai's, a XL pulled up next to me, SLANTED RICECANNON, big hyunadi sticker on the back window and it was a 40 year old dude... he reved his... so we dragged... i dont think ive ever left someone so far behind....EVER

heheh they'res a reason they're not popular to do up...

ok back to the original question, on vn's no resonator sounds good, as for power... doubt it does anymore than 2-3kw
it'll make it louder for sure and yes u will get a drone but what can u expect from taking a device off thats designed to dampen the cars exhust sound
its worth just getting a cat back system.. will give a nice deep idle note, cost u round $220 + tip for a good deal... (fitted)

just buy a cardboard tube and make farting noises in it while you drive mate ..

that should take care of your "fulsik" zorst needs..
    never late in a 3 0 .. uhhh ... intercooled turbo

yes i drive an mx6 turbo ... its probably quicker than yours.

I don't think it would give you all that much more power, after all, isn't the exhaust supposed to be a tuned length for proper gas flow etc?

doesn't sound too bad without a rear resonator, but you still have that 'restricted air flow' sound - and it's louder.

Exhaust systems aren't that expensive, and you'll notice a bit of power. Plus it will sound very sweet with the right choice of mufflers and resonators.

yeah, VP_luke was going to buy my mates entire system (pacemakers, new oxy sensor, hiflow car, no resonator on the system, new muffler.. the entire system was worked... only problem found out it needed welding up in 2 points.. (he wanted $400 for it :P)

but i heard that and dam it was nice for a 6 anyway

but when it comes down to it, i dont want a full system, as i dont intend on sticking with a 6 so id rather buy things i can swap over... but in the meantime i want a louder exhust... i know the tip i want, are the 8's, 2.5" or 3" exhust systems???

I already have a 2.5' system , will removing the resonator AND adding a twin exhuast tip like in the attachment, or even leaving the resanator on and putting the twin exuast tip on????

try putting a better resonator on. Get a straight through Lukey resonator that will increase the flow to over 90% but prevent droning when you're driving along. It will also give it a deeper sound if you have a good resonator. Then shove the tip on the end if you like. My m8 put a dual tip on his VL and it made a difference to the sound. Sounded deeper.
