u blowin smoke or stinky exhust fumes???
if u are then its probbly runnin rich, more fuel being burnt means more heat,

o2 sensor might be playing up, very common thing on a vn

When cold start back you car to a fence the night before and start it up, If there is any fumes you will smell it,
Myn sits right behind my gate doors, And when i start it up by the time i move to the gates to open them my head is about to explode from the fumes. at the rear. I have bad fuel economy also but it doesn't seem as bad as your is, Maybe have someone look at your fuel system when they serves it.

this is a believe it or not answer....thermostat,a faulty thermostat will interfere with the commodores..VN onwards fuel economy .also would explain running a bit hotter too,if no leaks have been detected.

have you done a diagnostic on your car?...i still say it's your thermostat...is it a genuine thermostat...some aftermarket ones can bugger up before 4000K's..the only other thing that i can think of with engine running warmer is faulty coolant temperature sensor operation, this can also interfere with fuel consumption

my oxy sensor looks like it was just removed from a fire.....

need a new one... infact most of the sensors on vn's are crap and gone

btw i drive into the city each day (well half way) stop/starting all the way i get 380-400

i drove to nsw got 768k out of a tank using cruize control NONSTOP for 4 hours that was doing 110km/h the entire way

i replaced all of my sensors on my car after it was running rich and fouling the plugs, i can get from berri to adelaide on a bit under 25 litres which is pretty good for an 8 over 230 k trip through the hills
