Default series 2 vq with series 2 vn motor, almost stalls between park and reverse and drive

idle is perfect majority of the time. except occasionally revs rise and fall a bout 400rpm, but air fuel gauge remains constant. other times is perfect. hot or cold have no affect on it occurring.

when start. go from park to neutral, gearbox big clunk, car almost stalls. to neutral fine, to drive and bang. think stall convertor isn't disengaging properly or something. also other night in the city in low ratio drive. put my foot down at the lights and it sounded like the diff slipped, metallic grinding noise but has been ok since.

when driving a 65k's and go back into 2nd loud metallic clank comes from diff area.

when driving if i back off, slam the accelerator, back off same sound is produced.

diff is brand spanking new lsd. diff has been removed and checked they are unable to duplicate fault.

Is it universal joints, gearbox, torque convertor???? at a total loss?

try the centre bearing also when checking leave car in neutral but pull hand brake on as leaving in gear can put load on centre bearing taking away the backlash if it is stuffed
