I have had this problem for a while now, the A/C fan stop working, so i checked the fuse which was fine and then i checked to see if there was even power at the fuse which there isnt. I bridged a wire from another fuse to this fuse holder and it worked.
So now that i know there a loose wire somewhere i need to know where to look. Firstly i need to know how to get behind the fuse holder board to check there, if it isnt loose there where does the wire go to in the engine bay?
If anyone out there has the wiring diagram for the A/C system it would be greatly appreciated if you could post it up.
I really dont want to go to an electrician for this, it should be easy to fix, just need to know where to look![]()
Thanks everyone
when you say A/C fan do you mean the engine fan sitting on the radiator?? or the interior fan in the car with 4 speeds?
if its the engine fan then check the fuse holder itself, they like melting.
let us know here which fan isnt working..... then i'll post a wiring diagram tomorrow night by hopefully 4 pm QLD time...
Sorry, its the interior fan ,thanks Hairy
If all else fails and i cant trace the wire to where its loose, ill simply tap of another wire that runs through the ignition.
Cheers
PS. Does anybody know how to remove the fuse holder board in a VN (the drivers side under the flip down panel) so i can get to the wires??
Before you go changing any wire or adding anything to your vehicle I would be checking the fan speed resistor which is under the front plenum chamber cover, because I think you will find that this is burnt out which is very common in VN's and once you replace this unit, the interior fan will begin to work on all speeds again and the A/C will switch on as well. A simple check is to try the interior fan on the highest speed. If it works but doesnt on any of the other speeds then the resistor has burnt out!! Good Luck
Yeah thats what i thought first but when i got temporary power to it, i checked that and all speeds were fine.
Thanks for the suggestion
After alot of fiddling around, i got to the back of the fuse holder board and discovered that the power for the interior ac fan motor comes directly from the ignition relay. There was no power on this wire so i checked the relay which was fine. This lefted me stumped so i just bridged a wire from another accessory to the fan fuse (making sure the fuse is still in the circuit) and is working for now .![]()
Atleast its working now and i dont roast on these hot days until i get a electrician to work it out.
Cheers
