Question kickdown cable and 1st gear

    hey all,

hoping to find some advice, my vn has a rough first to second change.
its the worst just after starting and drivin down the road.. feels like it holds it for ages and gives u a boot and continues to do but gets better as it heats up

just wondering if this has somethin to do wid kickdown cable or just a worn out auto??

    other changes ar fine

    thanks

i had the same prob on my old Vn takes forever to change if you drive slow but if you boot it it changes at about 20 kays
Sounds like you need to adjust the cable . Just open the bonnet and depress black button and putt the cable towards the drivers side to take out all the slack , then depress the gass pedal and you will hear it click a few times till it resets itself . Take it for a drive see how it goes then you can fine tune it by adjusting it manually . there are a few threads on there about kick down cables

My old tranny was like this held 1st forever, And going into 2nd was ruff, As it was warm it wasn't as bad, It went pretty much around 300,000km, But i had some more signs then that, Shudder into 3rd and a long pause going into 3rd gear.
