get VS s/c CAI with HI-FLO panel filter, to make the CAI fit right in your VN you can either just smash the bonnet down to make it fit in right or heat the edges then slam it so it fits right., make sure to remove the black rubber bits at the front of the bonnet cuz they block the CAI.

if you want a POD id say get a k&n one from ricerbahn and modify CAI to blow onto it so it sux in less hot engine bay air.

I have had a K&N Pod filter and then put a standard air box in with a K&N panel filter and SS induction and the SS induction is much better. You can tell the difference. Plus unless you have cold air being fed to the pod, its generally sucking in alot of hot air as well.

As for making the bonnet fit properly, on my SS induction the bonnet sits up at the front a little, but wouldnt logic suggest that feeds more air to the SS induction? Its not that noticeable that the bonnet sits a little higher?

If you're desperate for a pod then you should build a little box for it to go in and install a CAI and pipe that into the box. Otherwise you're going to end up sucking hot air through a pod, and that's not doing your power figures any favours.

I'm with the other guys though, a CAI and a K&N panel filter (or a finer filter if you live in a dusty place).

dont waste your money on ss inductions! its bloody rediculous how much those two bits of plastic cost...just get yourself a VS s/c CAI from holden for $50...its almost exactly the same but a fraction of the price.

Show me numbers and I'll beleive it, not that i doubt you at all. If I'd spent hundreds on a CAI I'd want it to work a miracle...

My car now runs a Pod, 2 things with them they are at there best in colder less summer conditions,
When floored it sounds more V8 like deeper but i believe it's much louder when it first starts up. But it's great for take offs and gets the rears spinning faster i don't mind it at all.
I was thinking of getting some cheap bendable pipe and setting up something to, cheaper then a CAI.

G'day guys, I'm also thinking of getting a K&N filter and a VC S/c CAI. When you guys do this do you just get the filter that goes into the stock air filter box or do you get those pods, thats if you can get those pods for VNs?
    cheers, mickah

Agreed, they should change the name to SS wallet reductions and there slogan should be so much money for so little gain!

does any1 wanna give their opinion on how the bonnet sits with the CAI? As i said earlier logically i woulda thought you would get more air just letting the bonnet sit how it does with the CAI rather than adjusting the CAI so the bonnet sits normally. With a slightly taller gap more air would be coming into the CAI right?

And it is barely noticeable unless you're looking at the bonnet from the side reasonably close.

the vs CAI that has been spoken of is the one found on the factory supercharged v6's...
its $50 for the two pieces you'll need (you dont need the airbox, just modify your stock one) from holden or ebay has alot of them too.
its basically a classic over the radiator CAI which can fit vn-vs quite easily and when used in conjunction with a hi-flow air filter you'll notice the difference (i couldnt say exactly what kind of gain in Kw's you'd get).
