I opened my bonnet the other day and the cable broke and has fallen way under the dash i cant get to it.....is there anyway else to open the bonnet ive just replaced a radiator hose and more may go in the next week or two so i dont want to be stuck
Is there anyway you can get up through behind the front bar to pull the lever back to pop the bonnet?
Yours Kindly,
Jim
i tried pulling the lever under the bonnet but it is still closed where the cable pulls away the latch in the centre....i cant get my front kit off either cause i screwed it on in the middle at front of bonnet when open....my fingers just fit between kit and bonnet.
there is a metal pin/wire thingy that i can see underneath and it moves when you pull bonnet cable(i know this cause i thought i was f^&ked when my lever broke and i was trying to open-i just use pliers and pull wire from dash but now broke more) would that help at all .... serves me right for not fixing sooner

Thanks i will try to find this striker thingy which i think is wat i saw moving while underneath when someone pulled the lever when working
ok ive worked out how to open it now is it easy to put a new one in DIY should i be getting a new one or one from the wreckers
id just say one form the wreckers, but i dont no how much a new would go for, might be same price for a new one but i some how doubt it
bought cable today $16.99 from Aussie auto went to a mech and he said you got to buy an original one cause the original one takes about 1hr and the universal one takes about 3 hours.Anyway im pretty pissed off with mechanics at the moment so i said ill do it myself. took me as long as it takes to duct tape the new to the old then pulled it straight through (about 2min) all up it took 1.5hr cause i had to find a drill and charge it to put a few extra brackets in for support.Saved myself over $150 and got more confidence at fixing stuff myself. Also got new window squirters while i was at it
If none of the other suggestions work, I have a 9" grinder you are welcome to borrow.Originally Posted by S Pack
