Wanna see it? give ya $500 for it ha ha sounds like a bargin but i would check its not stolen first
.:Blown VT V6, DAJ37:.
Executives have the light above the ignition barrel (they mostly burn out). As for v8 brakes, why would you need them on a stock 3.8L? I mean, my vx s has the same brakes as the executive. Why would they de-spec the commodores after a vn :P.Originally Posted by geta
If i remember correctly they only had fe2 spec suspension, different hubcaps, painted bumpers, lv2 dash, ss style fabric (i dont think front seats were the same) and as you said usually rear speakers.
I think any roadworthy car for $250 would be an alright deal :P
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
They do have V8 brakes, holden "de-specced" them after Vn cos they are tight? I dunno, ask someone who worked there at the time.
Front seats are the same as SS

Yeah they do have the v8 brakes, front seats were same as SS up until 1990 model SS, that had prtoduing sections of front and back seats (similar to calais) but some material.
Cheers, Gaz
The brakes are alot better than the V6 ones too, In this day and age when VNs are so cheap you should never never need to buy one without the FE2 suspension/brake pack on it because there's a few of them out there and it makes the car so much better
Holden didn;t "de-spec" them after the VN, they upgraded the base model to have the finned calipers as well....I'm pretty sure (not 100%) they are the same as VL Turbo brakes...Originally Posted by geta
Absolutely correct there shamus. There was no such thing as v6 & v8 brakes on vp and later models as they came standard with what were previously known as the v8 brakes in the vn. VN V8 brakes are identical to VL turbo!
Nikkojoe, VT commodores and up run 298mm rotors and twin piston calipers on all models, so there is no de spec there they just brought the lower spec models up to the same level of brakes as the higher spec models.
I think the change came with the VP series II?Originally Posted by VN Calais 5.0
Just had a look in the DBA book and greenfoam you are correct, 1992 was the change. Is that vp series 2?
I know VT's and up run twin pistons with bigger rotors, that's why you get the brake upgrade kits off ebay to suit older commodores pre vt right? I was saying that comparing my VX S to a VX executive, they are exactly the same.Originally Posted by VN Calais 5.0
As for de-spec'ing, i meant that if earlier model base cars had their brakes changed to the early v8 spec ones, then the s pack has no real "improvement" in braking performance over a standard executive. IE, you are taking out the edge that the S had over the exec (it has lost the "performance brakes" term, and technically has been de-spec'ed)
Yes I think October 1992? My VP must be a series 2 because it was built late in the year but I have no idea what changed in the series 2Originally Posted by VN Calais 5.0

thats a good price if nothing serious is wrong with it. I got mine for $1700 with full kit, mags, and suspension but it had a few minors wrong, and i thought i got mine cheap!!!

souns like a good buy , mine had a few thing rong with it like bonnet cable door trim and roof lining the paint is a bit sad but it is mechanically A1.
