Today my Vp Calais wouldnt start up when i was about to leave work. So the calais and I sat their for ages staring blankly at each other. I had already suspected it would be the crank angle sensor. Normally when it doesnt start i just leave it for abit, come back and it fires up again. Well this time it didnt want to, so i was stranded in the carpark for ages. Then out of no where this guy comes up to me and asked what was wrong with the car. I said it could be a crank angle sensor problem. He just laughed, got some lil wires out and went and plugged then into something else under the passenger side dash. He got some codes and said it was my crank angle and 02 sensor. Then he went and poured cold water over the crank and it started up. He gave me a rough price on a 02 and CAS. He turned out to be a Mechanic from Holden just down the road! How lucky was that. If you read these forums guy, thanz alot for the help!!
What a good samariton (Sp)! You must have looked really confused to make him come over!
Crank angle sensors tend to play up mostly when they have a bit of heat in them that is why yours started when you left it for a while and when cold water was poured on it.
It would be nice to think that there are more people out there like that, let's face it it's all too often we see VN/VP/VQ's stuck on the side of the road somewhere. If we don't help each other out, that's pretty fuc&ing lazy of us. Especially since everyone here knows so much about their cars.
Sad thing is, most people will just drive past.
You're lucky this guy didn't charge you for the help, all the dealings I've ever had with Holden mechanics ended up costing me about three times what it should have.![]()
