How do you get engine light to flash codes?

I was just wondering how you get that engine warning light to flash those codes everyone talks about on here!

Did the self diag test using the suggested paperclip- hey thanks for that tip! Bugger though, looks like I need a new 02 sensor- Fork!

try giving the o2 sensor a clean with sandpaper first.... might fix it

i did it last night to.. same error! is this error common

The O2 sensors need regular replacing like other components. They are easily done by yourself (so I have heard). They cost around or under the $100 mark and once replaced give you greater fuel economy.

Changed my oxygen sensor on the weekend. It seems to be making much less noise now, and already I have noticed a pretty big improvement in the fuel consumption (was drinkin like a V8)
