As mentioned in another thread I have been looking at VR/VS V6 Wagons dual fuel for around the 3-4K mark.
But having never owned a V8 I am interested in knowing roughly how much VN 5 litre dual fuel wagons go for, I am also not sure how much of a saving over the relatively economical V6 on petrol I'd be making running the thirsty 5 litre on gas, I suspect I'd only be a fraction ahead.

You would be in front, a bit....... and sound cooler .
I don't know where you're finding VR or !?VS?! wagon 5liters on gas for 3-4 grand but if your finding them for that price, buy 10 because thats a bargin. I would have expected a VS 5 liter on gas to worth an easy 10 grand

before i bought the v6 i was looken at a v8 vn wagon for $3500 not dual fuel but there was nothing wrong with it. so a vn in rough condition would be cheaper than thatOriginally Posted by muso

I meant V6 VR/VS commodores on dual fuel, sorry I've edited it now, a VR/VS dual fuel 5 litre would be up in VT V6 price territory but VN 5 litres in average cond with dual fuel should be cheaper and a great work horse (my digital piano and synth and PA would fit no worries) I've also looked at a Ford EB 5 litre dual fuel wagon and that's about 3K it's a bit rough though but drives OK (sluggish but torquey ) and being a Musician I appreciate the music of a rumbling V8.Originally Posted by greenfoam
I guess you would get a decent VN 5 liter wagon on gas for 3-4k VP another 500-1000 something like that. The injected Holden 5 liter is a much better engine than the Ford Windsor of that (or any vintage)
Thanks greenfoam, yes I'd rather the Holden 5 litre and I hope I can find a dual fuel wagon, I did see one about a year ago dual fuel Berlina for 3K but it was so stuffed it was virtually undriveable, every moving part was buggered, it felt dangerous even at 40 kph it had been driven into the ground and probably never serviced (owners like that should not be allowed to have such a nice car, even the electric windows were all buggered, if it was a horse he would have been in trouble with the R.S.P.C.A)Originally Posted by greenfoam
The VN wagon is a lot lighter than the EB ford wagon to, but it would still have to be Dual fuel, a 5 litre on petrol would defy logic for me anyway.
Anyone know the 3 monthly reg fee for a V8 (South Aust)?
It's $170 for 3 mths rego for a V6. I'll check with motor reg. dept. anyway.
