Why is VN Stalling???

Hi all,
Hoping that someone may have experienced similar problem.
I picked up a 89 VN S1- Exec Sedan which had been rolled and sat since Sept 05 -with the purpose of changing motor & Trans into 89 VN wagon.
Not a bad pickup I thought - complete $400.00 out of QUOKKA W.A. and hey that also included flattop delivery to my Driveway approx 25km.
Changed the oil, checked Coolant, checked and topped up Gearbox, Charged battery, fuel in tank....Ok ready to crank it over.
Hit the igniton and it fired up first crank over....sweet!!!
OK.....Degreased motor and engine compartment and dried off all electricals...hit started again and fired up.....
Idle OK, got to ops temperature.
Motor seems to be AOK.
Now... after idling for around 10 minutes it starts to surge then settle down...l(like it was hungry for fuel)....then it stalls.
Hit the pedal and it will fire up again and go throught the same cycle.
A few things I noticed are:-
Cooling fan does not come come on
Melted Fuse at A/C, Cooling Fan under Drivers dash.
{When I checked the AC operation on first start up it died and cut out...A/C hasn't worked since then)
Thinking it may have got moisture on/in sensor wirings etc
Can anyone help???

ps...great forums all...been very helpful reading up on it all..Now comwe the fun part of wrecking and selling parts...anyone after VN parts except the motor/trans and A/C unit let me know

yeah same sorta thing as what mine does. Prob injectors

Thanks for the feedback, haven't as yet checked for error codes.Is there a trick to getting the check engine light to work?

hey dude, i kinda had a problem with mine idling, itd eaither stall on idling or stall whilst i was accelerating, i managed to work out it would happen every 8 days, basically what my problem was, is the Crank Angle Sensor, its a pretty small part hey, just down near the bottom pulley, kinda hard to explain, but it has wires coming off, u should be able to twigle it, because they do get a lose connection, if that is the case i highly recommend replacing it, because i went bout 2-3 months not changing mine, since its been fixed its been good, but i have bigger problems now on my vn calais so yeah...the old girls been out of action for one week, and will prob miss another hey.

also noticed u mention Quokka W.A. well im a perth resident too, so private message me when ur ready to start selling some parts, cos i might be after something, cheers man!!
