Talking Fixed my idle rpm and got the gas running

Why would someone take 1 of the rockercover vac hose of the drivers side of the engine and plug up the hole on the throttle body and extend the vac hose and put it to the air box instead
its on gas so i thought it was for that and pulled the throttle body off and cleaned spankin iac valve and all the holes cleaned
then i put it all back on the way it came off i reconected the battery and started it and it reved out to about 3 grand in N and was prob 1100 in D way to high. So i pulled it all down again and put together the way it should of been and now it runs on gas perfectly and so smooth and quiet i thought it was stalled if i couldnt see the revs on juice its still the same as its always been but now it idles 850 in D on gas and petrol B4could only use gas cruisen or it would stall even in N
so why would someone do that in the first place?
Also Cheers to everyone here on justcommodore forums for all the info i read before i attempted to try and fix it myself

Yes its for the gas, it stops gas being drawn into the drivers side rocker cover and motor from the air cleaner side of throtle body and igniting in the engine. Its destroys rocker covers and blows sumps off!!!!

Return it to the way it way before and plug that hose up, should sort that problem. Think that hose is a PCV vent.

That plug is there to create a stronger vacuum for the gas unit to work.
I assume you have an impco system or somthing similar where there is a round unit somewhere down your intake pipe.
Those units work by a vacuum bag in side them, the more vacuum (more throttle open) the more gas is pumped into the engine. If you unplug the plug in question, everything goes up shit creek.

what about the othe rocker vac thats still connected to the throttle body?
only the drivers side was on the airbox shouldnt they both be?
and it runs like factory dedicated now its choice if i plumbit back up it will be crap on gas
als is it really nesasarry to have the rocker cover vents going to a vac
    Cheers

Alrighty i havent blown my rocker covers or sump off yet but i was wondering if i stuck the gas converter thing on the other side of the throttle body closer to the motor would that eliminate the possability of gas getting in to the motor
will starting and stopping it on petrol be ok or does it blow up while the motors running

    Cheers
