Can anyone tell me exactly what holds the pulley ,meaning the housing what the pulley is bolted onto please? lol mine is rattling and very noisey and we have removed the pulley to check it and the thread where the bolt goes into behind the pulley is nearly stripped, and I need to have it replaced and I don't know what its called. And now my Battery light is coming on continiously and the noise is getting louder. Please help I am desperate as I need my car running .

mate sounds more like your alternator is stuffed, pull ya belt off and spind the pully on the front of alternator if it grinds get a new or second hand alternator
its called your belt tensioner but sound like your altenator is gone get it overhauled and replace tht tensioner and do the belt at the same time
mmm The belt tensioner is that what its called? the pulley there needs to be replaced and I have bought a new one , but when we took the old one of to replace it, behind it where the bolt screws in is stripped (looks like its been grinded. I dont know what that is called lol
yes im pretty sure that is what its called. dont forget the bolt that holds that pulley on is revese thread ie anti clockwise to tighten clockwise to undo.if you tried to undo it the normal way you my have caused the damage yourself.I cant say ive ever fitted one but it should be pretty straight forward
