    Default fuel filter

hey i changed my fuel filter in the weekend because i had a few problems..
i just read that when you let your car run completely out of fuel (always happens to me) then put more fuel into your car all this crap from the bottom of the fuel tank gets taken through to fuel filter and clog's it up..

so i was just wondering what kind of crap can be at the bottom of the fuel tank to be able to clog up the fuel filter?????

    i'm really curious

im not really sure exactly wat crap would be there but you REALLY shouldnt run your tank dry as this will kill your fuel pump very quickly as the parts in it need the fuel to lubrucate it.

yeah dude, dont let your shit run dry, in an efi car that aint good by any means, fuel cannot always be dead clean, i.e it can be exposed to contamination by outside materials during the ocarse from productino to bowser, and this will usually settle at the bottom of your tank, but thats the least of youtr worries, and thats what the filter is for, like mentioned above, running the system dry takes away the lubrication and this kills things

When running the fuel low the pump would mostly pickup all the rust and crap from the holding tanks in the station.
All stations would have rust in there holding tanks also water contamination could occur if the tanks are cracked which can send dirt/soil and other matter from the gound.
    Cheers

If you ran the tank dry to the point that the engine cut out, it might be a good idea to check out your catalytic converter. Nine times out of ten when an engine cuts out from lack of fuel it will backfire a bit, these shockwaves through the exhaust can destroy a cat fairly quickly.
