    Default rear disc stuck HELP!!!

one of my rear rotors needs machining and i've tried everything to get the damn rotor off but it wont budge. i followed the instructions in the Haynes manual. it says if it sticks to remove the plug on the backing plate and adjust the star wheel. i cant find any plug. parkbrake is off, caliper removed. i've tried using a penetrate and even rust convertor nothing works. What am I doing wrong?

On a VP commodore you will find a rubber plug in the backing plate either in the bottom under the axle tube or above the axle tube .This depends if the handbrake cable comes in at the top of the backing plate or the bottom. If you find it you have to back off the adjuster star wheel so the shoes have clearance from drum, this can be down with a bent flat screw driver. If you adjust it the wrong way the drum will lock up.Sorry you will also probably have to climb under the car to see the hole. With the adjustment backed off and the cable adjustment backed off also you may have to give it a gentle tap with a hammer. Also rotate the disc back and forth while pulling it off as the shoes will catch on the lip were there is no wear.If you are having the discs machined its a good idea to ask them to machine the drums as well. This makes it easier to adjust the handbrake .Adjust the star wheel first then the cable last.I hope you are machining both discs so you dont have a problem of one wheel locking up under braking.Hope this helps.

Tried everything to get the one off my vr clubby in the end it had to be hit with a hammer and a lump of wood. Doing things the right way is fine on a car that hasn't done a few km's but over the years they settle on pretty good.
