just a simple mod i read in a magazine today. when ya dirving in 4th gear u can simply puch the gearstick down in a auto and it will shift to third without havin to life the disable thingo on the shifter. this will not work if u want to shift two second u have to actually lift the disabler up. so if u want u can get a grinder and grind the notch down and u will now be able to shift straight to second without lifting the disabler on the shifter. all u have to do is take of the plasitc around the shifter and expose the levers bottom and grind the notch.
yeah ive thought of doing that, but then i thought to myself, i wouldnt want to be doing 110, want to throw it back into 3rd, and have it slip into 2nd by accident. im just gonna leave the notch there and just lift the lever instead

man thats the worst idea of a mod ive ever heard, i mean that would be stupid, the reason for the saftey setup being there is so as stocky said u dont hit second or even first wen u dont want to, although i think the suto would shift down just cause ur over reaving but i never tried it so if it did u could blow ur auto, imagine if something happened like a spider flew through ur window and shit ur self and hit the selector down to first, u would blow ur auto.
and dont say it wont happen cause it has to me, although i had a manual and grinded alittle. ur better of getting a shift kit
I heard that mice running around in wheels can produce 4-5psi of boost with the right setup.
4-5psi hey, right, im off to the pet shop, any particular colour go faster and produce more boost?
will eventually be doing similar to mine, but not so its straight down, notch will be enough to have to push it into place, with a bit of force, but not easy enuf to slip. will be doing it on the way up too, as my 1>2>3 is too easy for my liking. will be going on a manually shift kitted auto, so i dont want it to drop in too easy.

its not a bad idea. it was published in street commodores a few years ago, i have the issue next to me. id just be worried about it shifting when you dont want it to

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this modifications is standard on police cars.
CATCH!
i think thats involving reverse side of it, so they can change from/to reverse. they might'v done all the gears too.
if you look in your standard manual that is in the glovebox you will see
you can go from first all the way to the blue D without lifting the handle, hoever you cant go back to second once you past it
You can go from reverse down to the white D without lifting the handle
you can move freely between both d's without lifting the handle
read your manual
yeh, what he wants to do is be able to go from the white d down to 1 and 2 without lifting the handle.
yeh i can go into second from the blue D, but i have to like the handle to go into first but as chuff said i have an ex cop car so im guessing it must be standard.
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
cheers hakhawk, i missed that,
why would you want to thou, imagine poppin it into first by mistake doing 60 let alone 100 youde throw a ****in rod,
u just gotta learn to drive it properly, thats all. mine will require a little force to shift, but not need the button, so u will certainly know if ur gonna hit it into.
Why dont you just simply floor it. It will automaticly go into 2nd.
probably to slow the car down slightly, or to get it into a particular gear before a corner isntead of planting it mid corner and getting a really harsh downshift
Oh...Oh...I know, I know...GET A MANUAL. Either that or a ratchet shifter on your auto.
Then if for some reason you do want to grab a lower gear at any time, you can pick exactly which gear you want and when. Wouldn't that be much easier?
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
the auto WILL NOT CHANGE BACK IF THE REVS ARE TOO HIGH anyway, dont tell me it will because i have a vp v8 and a vt v8 both autos and i can change either into 1st going 160 and it will go back through the gears and not hit the limiter at all. when upshifting it will hit the limiter in 1st and second
thats right, an auto wont go back into first if doing over 40 km/h, second at 100km/h but thrids wacked and drops out of fourth at 200 sometimes and hit limiter....
my shifter is rooted ill swap mine for yoursOriginally Posted by hakhawk

bonna, im not doing it to mine til i rebuild a gearbox with manual shift kit, i dont think you'd like to pull a lever everytime u shift in a manual, so it will be the same with my auto.
