hey all....
just picked up a 1992 VN BT1 for my bro with 180.000k's on the clock.... was just wondering if they come with factory immobiliser...... as im putting in a alarm soon with 2point immob. and central locking...
I dont think VNs had immobilisers in genereal, and doubt a BT1 would, who eould be stupid enough to steal a cop car, but from what i know, no, it wont have one, i know my HSV didnt
cheers for that...
if its a 1992 its a vp, the last vns were in 1991
I have been looking up numbers and codes for my BT1. I'm trying to sort out what goes into the BT1 pack.
List so far--
FE2
sump guard
extra front cooler
80L tank
interior trim (o'head map light, no lid on centre consul)
driver weathershield
memcal ??? something (dunno which yet)
plain silver rims usually
copper straps from body to hinged panels (such as doors, bonnet, boot to maintain earth integrity I suppose)
V8 has a noise suppression mod
suede seatcovers (lame joke alert -suede is pig leather)
good spot.. yeah it is a 1991 model...
we didnt even notice it was a BT1 until after we bought it...(Lame)
noticed extra cooler, FE2 suspension, sump guard, standard slot rims, no conole lid but 1 was put in there b4 we picked it up, no weathershield though, dunno about memcal, copper earth straps (ill have to check), didnt realise it had a 80L tank....
anthing else that is changed from stock????
I don't know alot about the stock alarm systems on VN's, but my VN always beeped twice when i turned the car off and it had no aftermarket alarm on it at that stage. It also has an anti-theft module? Which the central locking and a few other parts of the car are linked to. So i presume there must be some sort of immobiliser setup, although my car is a 91 Berlina, so maybe it was on the Berlina's. I had a very good alarm fitted about a year ago so its not something i've had to think about.
yeah it has no immobiliser, alarm or central locking.,.. ive had to put in the central locking and fnishing off the installation of the 2 point immobiliser
2morrow..... shit seems to take longer than it should to install....
Heres an embarrassing central locking story....My central locking was jumping up when i tried to lock the car.....so the locks wuld not stay down. I took it to 2 auto electricians after i mucked around with the solenoids and switches and module and culdnt find the problem
......turns out i drilled through the wiring loom behind the dash when i re-fitted a tacho after a vehicle inspection. $579 it cost to fix.
ohh ok so the BT1 is a cop car, if so you should find that the dashes are different, as i have an ex cop car, they have a light in the top of the dash and the speedo is every 2km (if u no what i mean), and whats this noise suppression mod you are talking bout carzee?
THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
