well i dont know how much it will cost to get done but it is a huge pain to put on. when i was putting my ones on, i had to drop the drivers side steering as nuthin could fit, piss easy installing passenger ones but.

Do the SV3800's come with tuned length extractors from HM? I never knew that. What do u think of them? I heard they kick in from basically 1900rpm, would you agree?

And the pacemakers would cost between $100-$150 to have fitted depending on where you go. I would reccomend getting them fitted professionally if you don't really know what you're doing.

As far as i know, and from the info i found on my car yeah, at the time, HSV were getting headers from HM, i can tell you they are tuned as well, they look the part, and damn, the thing goes

As for the kicking from 1900 up, mine gets up and boogies as it needs too, but someone flogged my HSV exhaust before i got the car, its meant to have a 2.5 inch big bore factory, but some assw!pe decided he wanted it more and swapped it with a standard V6 one, so hopefully soon, next week or so ill have a new exhaust

No doubt, i would be getting headers fitted properly, it doesnt look fun thats for sure

i am thinking about getting some pacemakers and getting a 3inch exhaust made up. I am gona fit them myself but thats cause i have a hoist. If its only 100-150 i'd get someone else to do it if you don't have a hoise.

Bit off topic but i have a VQ V8 with HSV headers, will pacemakers make much difference? the headers i have atm have a dent right in the bottom of them from a curb or something and are leaking a small amount i think cause i can see a bit of carbon around cylinder 8 and 7.

Its not as easy as you think to get headers onto a "V" engine, an inline is a little different, you need to move a fair bit of stuff, its easy if you know what your doing though

AntonRX, the paceys will make a difference depending on which ones you get, they do some tuned length competition ones, or some of the more common that arnt tuned length, you need to speak to an exhaust mob about that, but if your headers are leaking and dented, get new ones, they arnt doing any favours to the flow

yeah i work as a mechanic (unqualified) so i have done a few extractors before. Try doing a V6 pajero they are not fun. But yeah its not quiet as simple as a few bolts gota make sure you it all lined up and you do the extractor up in a pattern so they are all torqued right.

Yeah i was told tuned lenght are only for work engines. I only have chip, 3inch exhaust (gona get 3inch hiflow cat with extractors) and CAI and KN filter
gona get a cam oneday but not for a long time.

Does that sounds right to you? the dude said that i shouldn't get tuned lenght cause ill losetop end

Pacemaker and other brands reccomend basically a 3 hour fitting time for most of their headers. So as for your 40 minutes, you're a long way off.

As for AntonRX, you will not lose any top end with tuned length headers. Tuned length headers such as HM headers give you a power increase across a very wide rev range, from around 1900rpm and up. However, other extractors such as pacemakers, will give you MORE top end, but you may sacrifice some bottom end power, especially with a 3 inch exhaust. They will kick in around 3000-3500rpm instead.

hmmm. So would i be better of getting 4 into 1 extractors or just the normal pacemakers? i am guessing the 4-1 are more exspensive.

I always thought t he 4into 1 was the norm, i may be worng, the exhaust places can tell you the pros and cons, or visit the websites, they generally have some pretty good information

I saw mine got fitted by and exhaust place it took about 50 mins as i remembered I got them fitted before work. I just got to work with the extractors on the car. They quoted me $100 there and then. I've had 2 people working on the car and one side of the powersteering rack need to be moved to fit the right side of the extractor and the transmission bracket need to be trimmed abit to prevent rubbing.

they take so long to fit cause when you drive to the mechanic the car has to cool down....also series I you may need to alter a radiator hose to get them to fit (i had this done) as the hose from back of engine wraps around drivers side of engine.

Pacemakers are tuned length headers as well, which means all three primary runners collect together, and the primary runners are relatively long. When I mentioned tuned length regarding the HM headers, I meant that they are "true tuned" extractors, for the applicable engine. HM Headers engineers their headers to exactly match the certain engines that they are for.

Pacemaker is alot better built and are a thicker material, where as HM are not as thick and have rougher welds etc. However, HM have a 10 year warranty compared to 2 year for pacemaker?
    Both cost around the same.
