Ok, now i have searched the forums, but cant get a definate yes or no answer to my question, some people say that the HSV SV3800s came with a different cam and what not, others say its just a chip, headers and exhaust.
What exactly did the HSV SV3800s come with, also, what ratio diff are they, i know some HSV VNs came with the 3.45 Vl turbo LSD, but what about the SV3800s.
I do know a fair bit about them, but this information, i cannot find, please guys (and gals), lend a hand in increasing my knowledge
Cheers
Not all that sure on the first one either mate, have heard conflicting stories of a different memcal, and different exhaust system..
Im 99% sure that the 3800s came with the boring ol 3.08:1
Maybe contacting HSV might shed some light on it all?
Cheers, Gaz
Maybe.
If mine came with the 3.45 diff it would explain why it launches so hard and does standstills so easily, but, we shall see
There was only 1 SV3800 that was released with different diff gears to the standard gears.
call up HSV and find out about your car

Do you know how different the cam was to a standard one, it cant have been much, they arnt that much more powerful than a standard 6, and the chips have a bit to do with it too.
Cheers
hehe, Look into a powerchip gold spec style chip, Contact greenfoam or if u wanna spend the money Dr.Bob..

should sit on about 1800rpm with 3.08, with the 3.45's it will be about 2000rpm or a little more i'd say 2100 even.
at 109km/hr it will be at 2000rpm with 3.08's, with 3.45's it will be 2250rpm at 109km/hr. going off stock tacho(can be up to 200rpm high), maybe out but close enough to see.

I never made it to the freeway, got a phone call and ended up at the pub to catch up with friends, sober of course, then it rained so i enjoyed the benifits of the LSD on the way home, its on the way out though, it opened wheeled a few times, ah well, maybe tomorrow ill test that theory

the manuals rev at about 2000rpm with a standard 3.08:1 diff

hey fool,
there used to be an sv3800 website around that had all the specs on it.. seems to have gone offline now tho.
Anyway sv3800s came out with stock vn engine (no cam work), hsv chip, extractors and exhaust.
However, yours has a standard vn exhaust, as the person who owned it before us must have destroyed the old one somehow.
The only thing that seems right to do now is to get a nice 2.5" full system on there!
Yeah I've never read anything other than the engine was stock, I can't see HSV doing anything else since the Clubsport followed that same theory, 3800 chip with HM headers and exhaust, FE2 and LSD that would be about it. I'm not sure how different the HM headers were to the stock VN headers, or perhaps HM made the stokies too and they were the same?. HM made both the stock VN V8 header and later once the stockies moved to a cast header HM made the Clubsport header which is almost exactly the same thing as the VN one so you never know
Hmmmm, well, ive seen the standard V6 headers and mine side by side, and there are big differences, the SV ones are tuned length and so fourth and the standard ones are just horrible. (but standard windsor V8 are worse)
As for cam, hmm, this is getting a little frustrating, i know some car manufacturers do do slightly different motors for different cars, for exampple, XR6 falcons, around the E saries era (dunno about holden, they take too much effort to change), had a mildly different cam to standard, but only a slight power increase over stock, with different headers exhaust computer and diff. Hmmm, i think im going to need to do some more research.
And bez, i aint no fool, damn you. THEIF!!
anyway bez, ive seen the site your talking about, but its only got photos on there now. The guy that ran/owned the site was trying to sell his SV3800, and with it the site, as far as i know, if he sold the car, the site didnt go with it and if it did, its not being used.
You have the 3.08:1 gear set, not 3.45:1, unless someone changed it.

Well, at 100k an hour, in top gear, it sits at just over 2200RPM
If Tails83 is wrong, then yes, i would have 3.08, but if he is right, that would mean i would have 3.45
Damn this car, more testing is required
Cheers
That means nothing. It could be something as simple as the lockup solanoid shitting itself to rev that high.

I just did the calculations based on the TH700 and you have 3.08:1 gears.
3.08:1
102km/h@2250rpm
3.45:1
102km/h@2500rpm
