Question VP Calais Fuel Leak... Ideas??

hey guys, i have encountered a bit of a problem with my calais and just wondered if anyone else has had a simmilar complaint and what the damage on repair was??

Problem started with a fuel smell from the rear drivers side, thought it was the breather hoses but they all appear in tact and not what i would call damaged.
On closer inspection i noticed the build up of dirt on the top of the fuel tank appeared to be damp, and when i looked closer i noticed it was damp with fuel, im just unsure as to where it is comming from.

So bottom line is looks like my tank is leaking from somewhere on the top of the tank as there is no fuel on the ground or the underside of the tank itself. Im just not sure where it could be leaking from. If anyone has a suggestion on the possible cause that would be a great help.

    Cheers Al

Those breather hoses run all the way into the middle of the top of the tank they could be perished at one end and fine on the other sorry to say the only way to dianose this problem will be to drop the tank. even if they are broken the metal lines themselves run a good foot into the tank so I wouldn't think replacing the hoses would do, you probably have a split around one of the seams for those pipes, as long as its not huge a bit of epoxy should fix your problem.

ye thanks, i did wonder how they were attached at the other end. Spoke to my mechanic today hes saying around 300 supply and fit, if in the event that a new tank is needed. Hopefully its just a split breather hose.
