    Default missing a cylinder?

hey i got a VN and i been having a few problems with it. its cutting out when i accelerate..but when i'm cruising down the street its fine. a mate said when you run outta petrol it ****s up the exhaust when it backfires when u try to start it up again, like shatters it or something...took it too my exhaust man who put the 2 1/2 redback exhaust on and he said its not an exhaust problem....

he came for a drive with me and he said it felt like it was missing a cylinder..wtf?? he said to change the spark plugs, leads and all that...will this fix the problem? or should i look into something else b4 i start going spending all this money.

    thanks

Check your leads, then your coil packs then your plugs.

The exhaust thing that you're talking about is when the car starves of fuel and cuts out and backfires the shockwave through the exhaust quite often shatters the honeycomb inside the catalytic converter.

    Gregory's cover it fairly well...

A fairly simple test is to go for a bit of a drive turn the engine off and feel the coilpacks with your hands, if one is way hotter than the others you have a rooted coil pack.
