Angry My car is a never ending problem!!

    Hey all,

i would like to tell you all about my car and the recent problems it has been having.
first the Crank angle sensor dies and needs replacing so that gets done, then i get one of greenfoams memcals and have some fun with that but sure enuff about a month later my CAS is playing up, so straight to the mechanics to replace it. next day driving the car it stalls, check codes gives me 33 (i think) which is the map sensor, so i replace it. I decide then to change the oil as i was running low as im losing oil :b: so i change the oil and decide to flush the raditator as well and put a new themostat in.
get it all done. Go on holidays over easter (without my car)

come back, drive my car and find out its leaking some coolant from the themostat housing, so i tightened it a little more ( not much as thats how i broke the old one!!) after that it still decides to leak a little!!!
next thing to happen is another code 33!!!! :b: ::b: and a code 13! ( oxygen sensor was replaced in jan this year). i decide to put my stock memcal in and get my caar running A1. 2nite im on my way to the shops and i get code 45! (oxygen sensor) so now im just sick of my car! on top of all this my car is leaking oil from somewhere that i have yet to get check out.

Now the question is, Could there be some dodgy wire/s that are causing all these error codes?

Thank you for taking to read my rant!

p.s. also my car is looking worse everyday as my paint is fading VERY fast! damn oxidation

did you put the little O ring rubber seal with the thermostat? if thats in good condition there shouldnt be any other reason for leaks..

i did the first time, but the housing broke and when i checked the themostat the o-ring had crumbled in half. i just left it off, it seemed to fit better with out the o-ring and i had the gasket for the themostat housing.

since i have been running the stock memcal the car has seemed to be heating up LOTS! the gauge goes to about half with a 15min car drive, i thought the radiator was surpose to stay cool and the engine warm?
i also got code 45 today!
so im booking the car to go to the mechanics on tuesday to get it looked at.
my mechanic skills are going to be put to rest once my car is running A1 and if i have any problems it will just go to the mechanics. i just want a reliable car.

The mystery oil leak: If it's at the back of the engine and dripping onto the drive way? Well...sounds like a rear main seal. Join the club mate. Almost EVERY VN out there has a bit of a leak from the rear main.

You can buy my VN if you want , before it goes rusty on the front lawn, it's got faded paint too but hasn't shown an engine light for a couple years now. It's getting pretty old though so I don't want to even look at it sideways or it might break. I'm having enough troubles getting the VP right without worrying about two cars. I had a new CAS put in the VN about 2 years ago and changed the thermostat and some hoses a few months ago because it was crusssssssty

It's behind the harmonic balancer. Mine wasn't broken, just got it changed because the car had done enough ks that it could have gone at any time. The harmonic balancer let go soon afterwards anyway so might aswell have waited for that

Are they both cheap to change cause I'm over 300,000km and i think it might not have much life left unless I'm wrong and panicking

well atm my car has been traveling pretty well, oil leak was fixed ( timing cover seal $150) and ecu was replaced. only thing is it feels like a slug cus i took out foamys chip as i was using too much petrol! i just need to give my tb a clean as it is idling kinda average. oh and i just put my 6x9 in!

But the chip was just stock with a bit more timing, it can't use more fuel unless your foot was heavier , just thinking, maybe I sent you two? if I did try the less radical one
