hey guys, im working out things i should do to my car so vote on me poll and let me know whatever else u think i should do. all in good time tho :P
i got 1992 VP Vacationer 127,XXX kms...![]()
what about a shift kit it? or caming it? have you thought of those things ;-)
lol im a noob with cars, didnt even think of them... what exactly do they do... hehe i got alot to learn...
go the cai cheap but it might not make it go anyfaster but it will run better!!
get a VS S/C CAI about $70- 100 from holden
Adam
D. ALL OF THE ABOVE lol.
i voted the last one... other. only coz of the fact that u didnt state how much ur lookin at spendin on it.
in my opinion, there all good mods. but i'd leave the stocker rims on it to give it that sleeper look. but yea for sure, do the brakes, 2 1/2" zaust, a good set of extractors, get a CAI and K&N panel filter. get a CAM & CHIP package (u can get em pretty cheap these days), lower it, get abit of head work done, maybe a bigger throttle body or get the standard one cleaned and polished (u'll notice the difference), and trick the box up by gettin a stage 2 heavy duty shift kit and 2300rpm stall converter.
u'll be laughin after doin all that mate. then l8r on if ya have the cash, get a whole rebuild with ACL bottem end internals and oversized pistonsthen throw on a blower hahaha.
***one can only dreaqm i suppose***
when i went to get my 6 by 9s installed they said they wouldn't install them cos it was illegal or something..so i went and got a VP parcel shelf with the speaker mesh and got some 6 1/4 inch installed underneath..
stereo looks good man....was that $2000 including the install?
hrmm weird, i just went and bought spacers from autopro for mine for $50 (front + rear) and the blokes had no probs putting it all in. I tell a lie when i say it is $2000 lol, its WORTH just over $2000 from me goin down and lookin at the RRP of stuff in our local audio shop, i got the HU, 6x9's and 6.5" from eBay for $580 and my amp and sub for $580 plus $230 for the install. mounts were $50 and wiring only cost me $60 (6ga 600watt Aerpro 4channel kit)
pretty good considering the whole lot (install, mounts, wiring) cost about $1500, i went looking again and the RRP of JUST the stereo with no wiring or mounts was about $1800-$2000
sorry the pics r a bit dodgy, cant find the cam so im forced to use my phone lol
BUMP, anymore suggestions/advice/comments/flames about the way im goin, im a noob and i need direction from the holden gods haha
First off get a CAI and a K&N filter, CAI cost me $50.50 for the intake and the duct to the airbox + the 2 screws to put it in from holden, K & N filter cost me $100 off ebay.

Not hard to install, the inlet I got was a bit different to the one on that page but it's all pretty much the same, you can always get someone more knowledgeable to help (Although I just installed mine today by myself, and i'm pretty much a noob when it comes to cars so it's not hard).
Next i'd say you go for the safety / handling side of things, get the brakes done, and if you want it lowered get some king springs with some proper shocks.
Depending on how much money you have, next i'd either go for a shift kit, which doesn't really add any kw's at the wheels, but you will notice the difference once it's in, or go for a set of pacemaker extractors + an exhaust system.
Thats pretty much all the dare I say "common" mods done, after all that you might wanna look at a cam and memcal package, getting some engine work done...and after that if your still looking at spending money on it (if you have any left) start looking at some forced induction.
Oh and as for looks..debadged and slapped on sceptors.
yea tru tru, thats pretty much exactly wat i been thinkin. i mite go down in the next coupla days and look at CAI's and panel filters at autopro... im lookin to spend about $1500 all up maybe a bit more depending on how much i save.
my mate got me a 2 1/2" cat-back exhaust for $350 fully installed from a guy he knows, i just gotta go in and see what the deal is. ill keep u guys posted
Autopro or any shop like that will try sell you an SS inductions kit for about $200... don't bother with it. You can get the genuine holden VSII S/C Calais kit for about $80-90 including the modified air box bottom and that's ALL you need. You can even get the dynabolt plastic screw thingies for em from holden too... part numbers are in the how to section..... somewhere..................
hi-flo panel filters are neither here nor there. I've previously used just the standard paper filter with my cai and had no worries at all .. still felt good.

hrmm cheers for the quick reply, ill go down to a holden dealer in town in the next few days and quiz them on prices for the CAI kit with all the bits and pieces to save me fvcking around. im a noob at all this so i dont know where to start lol, i see it as a big hunk of metal that shreds tyres when u push a metal bar close to the floor :P
lol fair enough.. i'm much the same :P Even then i could still fit the cai in about half an hour with just a cordless drill (hell... i couldn't even pick the right bit for it.. lol).
You need a few bits:
CAI mouth (bit that bolts over the radiator)
CAI chute (that leads from mouth to air box)
VSII S/C air box bottom (optional - depends how lazy you are - i was lazy)
and 3x rivets (they aren't rivets but that's what they call em)
Holden spare parts dealers have some awesome car maps... so just get them to look up the VSII S/C Calais as that's what it's standard on and all the parts will be there.

yes well im lazy so ill be gettin everything lol. mite take a while tho, my parents r still pretty pissed about my stack (over a 3m imbankment in the wet, backwards into a fence and had to get towed out by a tractor)
lucky my cars fine but goddam did i get a yelling at, I WASNT EVEN DRIFTING!!!
hahaha yeah thats never good... parents can be painful
I just moved interstate away from them :P solved that problem pretty well lol. Oddly enough i now mostly get along with them.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
haha yeah tru tru, oh well, they werent harsh coz my car didnt get damaged apart from some scratches so they just said no goin out for a bit and no1 in the car with me for a bit just incase im feelin a bit crazy... on the topic, i should go get my wheels re-aligned and balanced while i remember coz i hit it pretty hard, sliding on wet= momentum
Yeh i'd get em looked at. It's only cheap to get it checked so worthwhile.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
yeah, i only hit the gutter goin about 40, maybe less and as soon as i hit it i was like SHIT MY REAR AXLE HAS BEEN MOVED but then i was like holy shit, it would take alot more to move it so yeah, just a new balance and alignment and she'll be right. the dude at beaurepairs will gimme a weird look seein as i got one done 2 weeks ago lol
Hate to scare ya but it doesn't take too much to move the axel.
Just sit it on the level and check it out and make sure it sits dead level. Mine was totally stuffed so yeah it's easy to spot.
When i killed my car the axel had shifted... i was probably only travelling 30-40 but because of the way the tyre dug into the kurb the back end prolly hit the pole a bit harder than that.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
i dont think mine got affected coz the kurb i went over wasnt a vertical one, it was one of the sloped ones, my dad had a quick look over the whole car and said he cant spot anything too obvious so fingers crossed. the dudes will prolly work it out when i send it in for alignment ne ways, "im sorry we cant balance your rear wheels because ure axle is in the wrong spot" how funny would that be :P
You wouldn't have done any damage goin up a good neighbour kurb, well the ones that i'm thinkin of anyways...maybe they're different there??
Cheers, Gaz
Yeh you'd be sweet.... mine was a nasty one... pole probably didnt help much... lol

350 for a cat back seems a little high for me, i can get one down here for $260 fitted, done know where you are, but have a look around before you commit to anything
Depends on the quality of the job really... I'd previously been quoted $350... went for stainless from the same guy for $650 and was very happy with it..
$250 job from profix just isn't the same :P
