Default Minor crash, right wheel = screwed, advice please..

    Hey guys,

Unfortunatley I had a bit of an accident today, bloody rain and slippery roads. Nothing major thankfully, but I hit a median strip and my front right wheel has been smashed right back, so much so that its more or less sitting on the mudflap. My left wheel is fine.

I've had it towed to a mechanics but I'm just wondering if anyone can give me a ballpark guess as to what's screwed and how much $ I'm going to have to fork out.

    Thanks in advance.

    PS No pictures, sorry.

Well you've probably got a bent axel if that's happened.. hopefully nothing more than that.

    No idea on costs..

yeah i did a similar thing in my VN, bent my rim back and bent the axle, so my right back wheel was on so much of angle that when i drive home it scrubbed the crap out of tyre, it cost me $50 for an axle, and i got some new bearings, cant remember price and put it all in myself, but yeah if you took it to a mechanic you could be look at a few more dollars, plus what ever other damamge you have done.

    cheers, nick

Depends, is it your front wheel or your back?

you might be up for a fair whack if you've done considerable damage to your front suspention.
if this is the case take the oppertunity (depending on funds) to upgrade your front end.......

    im guessing:

**New Upper and Lower Control arms
**Hole new strut tower (plus springs and shocks)
    **New sway bar
**Porbably new power steering boots (maybe two depending on how far its impacted..they rip so easy)
    **new wheel
**Paneal beating work on your strut mounts, cos they'll be bent im guessing.
** maybe a few other things......

Id say $600+ mate....could be worse or better but id say an absolute minimum of $600.

The panel beating of the strut tower mounts is a good point, if you've hit it hard enough to get the front wheel to almost touch the mudflap, chances are that you've bent the mounting for the tower. That's going to cost a mint to get done (unless you've got a mate who is a panel beater).
