    Default Suspension & shocks question

To improve handling, should I lower the car or just get stiffer shocks / springs?

I have a VN wagon (well at least the body is).

WHITELINE! If you want a car that handles really well speak to whiteline, a full kit is expensive but its definatly worth it, if they do wagons, i think they do. Other wise, 17s with 235 rubber, springs, shocks for a basic package that handles well,.

suspension isn't just shocks n springs (thats just on the lowering part as well as an adjustable panhard bar)
suspension is mainly attributed to bushes, u can have the best shocks n springs in the world but if all ur rubbers n bushes are stuffed it's just going to be a waste of money altho a set of high quality shocks can mask a lot of other suspension problems

to be honest i can't tell you what to do but i'm just telling you what i've been told thats all

if you can spare it, get your suspension looked into such as your control arms, swaybar and a panhard bar
even just changing the bushes over u'll notice a big change
sorry can't help ya too much

and as mentioned above: whiteline are probably the best with suspension

Interesting. It currently handles like a boat. I have some new wheels and tires on the way and when I get my car back (hopefully soon) I hope to see some handling increase.

These upgrades are draining my money though, so I hope it isn't too much.

Well, as promax said, before you gon trying to make your car handle like a car on rails, makesure all your bushes are up to scratch and that as well, to make it handle really well, nolathane bushes are good, but only for ones that are squashed, any bushes that twist need something else, i cant remember what. A full whiteline kit without intallation is around the $1100 mark, for either the low or super low kit, this includes all your bushes, swaybars, panhard rod, springs and shocks, everything to change a cars personality handling wise.

As for who Whiteline is, well, http://www.whiteline.com.au/, that should explain it all. I recommend the kits, my mate has a full kit in a VL, the thing was awesome to drive, anycorner you could throw at it, it could take sideways or like it was on rails, ive never been in a better handling car otehr than a V8 supercar.

yea sorry bout that i should've posted a link... whiteline is, i guess a brand for suspension n such (like king springs or monroe or pioneer etc) in nsw they've got around 12 stores where u can buy their products, thats including their head office, auto barn franchises and burson auto parts

u can take a look on their website (in doctor sodways post above) to find out what products they have, tutorials, what stores they're available in and all sorts of useful information
