Default Electric Aerial - fully crapped itself!!

I installed a pioneer CD player (Pioneer DEH-P5750MP) on the weekend, and apart from the holes on the new cd player not lining up the same as on the stock tape deck, everything went fine. it powered on first time.

then we tried the radio on it, and the electric aerial which is factory electric aerial (with up and down buttons near the head light switch) started going up, but it kept going and popped off the top and the wire came spewing out the top of the metal rod thing, and now it won't go back in.

could this have happened because i wired something wrong on the back of the new cd player? like the aerial up or something?

it may just be a big coincidence as the aerial was getting a bit dodgy towards the end of its life.

    cheers

i replaced mine bout a yr ago, put a newie in and bout 2 months ago the relay that decides on how hig the aerial goes crapped itself, the relay is behind the glovebox, but the bit that peevedme off is that it has a p/n and s/n printed all over it and took it to holden to order it and i payed for it and they said it would bout a week, 4 weeks later nothing... rang up and the said "oh yea we dont make that anymore" i asked where i can get one and they said none makes them cuz its a general motors part, im sure mine isnt the only one thats stuffed, bit stupid not havin any anymore. well thats my storey, ur aerial made a fine exit...haha

I purchased a complete replacement electric aerial from Autobarn Dandenong last week for $100. A bit fiddly but not too difficult to fit.

I've had the motor and the aerial module go in my VN Berlina. The module I replaced for $40 and the electric aerial for $85 from JB Hi-Fi. Its an Aerpro model.

Hmm going to most auto parts stores you can buy just the replacement aerial part for like $30 and have it all back in working order inlike an hour.

or otherwise autoparts places in perth here make pretty good non genuine ones that fit fine.

No you cant test it... But if your aerial is playing up you should be able to tell whats doing it by the symptoms of the aerial anyway..

Are you asking about VL or VN for the wiring?
