    Default Squeaking brakes, any ideas???

    hey, this only happens occasionally,

the brakes squeak when light to medium pressure on the break is applied, any higher and it stops, it also squeaks when slightly turning left.. (front brakes)

ive had the rotors and the pads done about a year ago,

i took the wheel off the other day (for something else) and noticed a groove in my rotor, (single groove) is that ment to be there or could i have a stone caught in my brake pad???

or do the rotors just need to be machined???

any ideas, the cars a little overdue for a service, but ive had soo much work done to it (ie regular checkups) i havnt needed a service, (ie oil flushed, tranny service, changed coolant ect)

soo yeah.. any idea??? (the power steering has a new pump/highpressure hose so the turning noise wont be that)

    cheers

yeah, just sounds like the rotors need machining man...thats what causes the squeaking 90% of the time

Probably the discs, the lip occurs due to wear from pads, makre sure the pads are ok too, squeeling can also occure due to crap pads, so go get your discs machined, make sure they will not be undersized when doing this.

    That should fix the problem

Yeah, picking up some slotted or drilled rotors would be the go. I think you can pick up new rotors off ebay for about $50 each, so that would be better than maching them.

hey bud, i live in the country and travil on dirt roads heaps, this brake stuff always happens, if theres a groove it is most likle 99% a stone caught on the pad, i fix mine by goin pretty fast in reverse then jammin the brakes on, normally pulls them lil stones rite outa there, u wouldnt have to waste money on gettin ur rotors done, but if this dont work looks like ur to late and the stone has worn to much and is stuck in the pad, but to anyone out there try my trick first before spending money, most of the time it should work if u do it not long after u first hear the sqeak. hope i got to ya before ya spent money.

99%? dont think so, the groove is caused by wear from the pad, either the brake pad is down to metal and screwin up the disc, or its just wear, all my time doing discs and brakes i have never found a stone embedded into a brake pad and rubbing on the disc. If that were to happen it would make vertually a constant squeel.

Btw, dont change your springs, the squeeling is not from that.

Have you actually checked out the pads to make sure they are not work out?

The spray will only last for a bit, then the squeel will return.

yeah ive checked the pads, my geuss is they're cheap pads, only fronts do it,

was considering getting 2x slotted rotors with a free set of pads ($165)
and by the way did anyone actually read my first post?? only had the pads/rotors done a year ago, and only been driving the car lots for 6 months (got my p's)

il try the reverse trick but its probbly just due to crappy pads, the spray will stop it for now untill i can be ****ed buying new rotors :P

Mate, I had my rotors machined and brand new front pads on mine in August last year. They were squealing right after I drove out..

The pads were "Premium" according to the mechanic. (not a mechanic I've used since, or ever will)

I've asked a few people and some just squeal. It's most likely just the brand of pad, if you're braking is fine, just suck it up..

Try the spray though. I haven't.. I honestly CBF.. My braking is fine, I'm happy..

My Brakes r geting bad, Its ok if i dont do any moderate to hard braking, but once i press down too hard she will squeel like a MOFO. It also hapens when i turn left or right but when the wheel is straight it wont squeel. Im pretty sure my brakes r ready to be replaced with new pads and rotors. When i have the money ill have to get some slotted rotors and new pads. The rear rotors can be done too cant they?

no point in doing rear brakes really, they're only used by the hand brake, and unless you've been using the handbrake to drift then i dont think they'd need doing, just get some slotted/ventalated rotors off onlineperformance auto's ($160 with a free set of pads), that squealing like a mofo is called singing lol, it probbly means your down to the metal at the end of the pad and your putting groves in your rotor (not good lol)
