Fuel filters

i brought fuel filter today for my 89 vn (not a calis) an i was given a filter for vn 88/calis its alots larger than my filter on right now. So can i use this filter? yes it will fit on BUT is there a reason for mine being alot smaller? maybe there is a diffrent from injecters an presure, anywayz just wanted to no if i can use this filter or should i take ot back an change.

if you put the flow the wrong way round, obvisiouly you wont get any fuel to the engine so it wont start.
